BC Hydro has provided an update regarding Energy Purchase Agreements (EPA) and the 2008 Clean Power Call. On August 24, 2009 a BC Hydro news release stated that the utility “anticipates that any EPA agreements will occur in the Fall of 2009.” Hydro also said that it needs additional time to assess proposals to determine whether adequate consultation with First Nations has occurred.
“Given their Fall 2009 timeline, it’s clear that Hydro is working through the final stages of its internal evaluation for the selection and announcement of energy purchase agreements” says Syntaris’ Vice President of Project Development Mike Wise. “We eagerly await its decision on the three strong proposals submitted by our company to the Clean Power Call.”
The proposed projects, Kinskuch River, Culliton Creek, and Maselpanik Creek would generate an estimated total of 104 Megawatts of electricity and create regional employment opportunities during construction and operations.
