Delegates of the annual Independent Power Producers association of B.C. (IPPBC) were conveyed the importance of engaging First Nations communities in the development of independent power projects in British Columbia this Tuesday. Discussion during the First Nations Partnership sessions revolved around how consultation between IPP’s and First Nations should include opportunities for local aboriginals to benefit from the projects as a form of reconciliation arising from 150 years of resource-use conflicts in the near-total absence of treaties in B.C.
